In 2006, £4.1 billion was spent on dining in hotels, out of a total eating out spend of £27.6 billion. Catering accounts for nearly 40% of revenues for the typical hotel (Mintel, 2006) and is the most important service other than accommodation.

We offer a number of ready meal and snack solutions to the hotel industry which are suitable not only for restaurants but also room service, conference and banqueting and themed events.

There has been increased consumer interest in food and eating out, hotels are becoming more focused on developing attractive food and beverage facilities in-house.  The traditional three-course menu is slowly being replaced, by ‘grazing’ menus or multi-course meal formats as consumers’ eating habits are evolving around increasingly hectic lifestyles.

Of the £4.1 billion spent on hotel catering:

  • around 44% is by consumers on holidays or short breaks
  • a further 23% by business travellers
  • conference and banqueting account for 21%
  • the remaining 12% from consumers that are non-residents of hotels

Mintel forecasts that expenditure on hotel catering will reach a value of just over £4.5 billion by 2010, an increase of 10% from the value of the market in 2005.
