Authentic Gets Sporty With Local School

AFC Winston Runners

The Authentic Food Company (TAFC) have become the proud sponsors of Newall Green High School’s (NGHS) football team.

TAFC recently donated some money to help the school purchase a new kit for their football team. Nik Basran, Managing Director at TAFC comments “We are proud to be involved and work so closely with our local High School. We have worked with them on a number of occasions over the years and when asked to sponsor the football team we were more than happy to give our support and thrilled we could help the school purchase a new kit for their football team.”

Over the years the Sharston based food manufacturer has supported the High School, who are based in Wythenshawe, Manchester, with a number of projects and each year they successfully join forces to put a food theme day on the curriculum across all faculties. These days enable all years to get an understanding of the foodservice sector and learn about all cultures and skills required for this industry.

Newell Green High School 2008

Chinese Arts Centre

On Friday 17th October, The Authentic Food Company joined forces for the second time with Newall Green High School to put food on the curriculum menu across all faculties.

The whole day was packed with interactive lessons all of which were based around British food and traditions. The students took part in designing packaging for a ready meal; translation of British recipes into German and even a tug of war during PE.

Adrian Ratcliffe demonstrated to the pupils how simple it is to cook healthy beef burgers at home, and a tastier option than their local fast food restaurant. They were then provided with a dessert from Kris Woods. Kris worked with the pupils and showed them how to make pancakes and to experiment with a variety of different toppings.
