Manchester-based The Authentic Food Company served up £1,500 sponsorship funds when they joined in a charity run in aid of St Ann’s Hospice.
A team of five employees from The Authentic Food Company in Sharston, who train every Tuesday at Wythenshawe Athletics track, put their hard work into practice at the annual Winston Runners Ladies 5K Charity Run on Sunday 6th July.
The Authentic ladies, who included Kamal Basran founder of The Authentic Food Company, braved the rain on Sunday to complete the 5K race in good time. The fastest runner on the day was Emma Jones from Belle Vue Racers who made excellent time of 19 minutes 32secs. Authentic’s Kamal Basran came just nine minutes later at number 36 out of the 104 runners.
Kamal Basran says “We have all trained hard for the run and have been sponsored by colleagues and friends to raise funds for St Ann’s Hospice. We all pushed ourselves on the day and were thrilled with our times. Even though the weather wasn’t on our side we didn’t let it stop us running for this worthy cause.”
The Authentic Food Company was the main sponsor of the event donating £1,500 to help support the Winston Runners annual charity run. Each runner received a bag of goodies after completing the race which included a well needed towel!
