Rob the Smoothie



In June 2007 Robert Gong, our Senior Development Chef, attended a food presentation at Blacon Primary School in Chester as part of their healthy eating week.





The school wanted a local chef to show kids how fun fruit can be with a big focus on smoothies, looking at how to make them and which fruits to use.

A smoothie is a delicious and healthy drink made up of fruit that’s been blended with fruit juice, milk or yogurt. So not only do smoothies taste great – they’re really good for you too. Packed with all the vitamins and nutrients you get from fresh fruit, they make the perfect drink. What’s more, all you need to make them is some basic kitchen equipment and a little imagination.

The best thing about smoothies is that there’s no right or wrong way. You make them to suit your taste, using your favourite seasonal fruits.

Robert chose to make two smoothies :

Mango, Mandarin, and Banana Smoothie

Apple, Strawberry and Pineapple Smoothie

Although the children were a bit nervous at the beginning of the session they soon got into the swing of things and had lots of fun making and eating the fruit!!
